    Default Replacing A Ball Joint

    Hey guys

Ive removed both struts off the front of my VN Series 1 and have found out that I need to replace the ball joints. What is the best way to remove them off the control arms? Ive tried bashing them off but it hasnt worked at all. Any ideas? Is there a proper procedure or tool I need to get them off? Thanks in advance.

they are4 a pain in the ass...the correct way is to press them in and out. But you can bash them out and carefully hit them back in although it is tricky to get right

If you get the whole arm out then you can just put them on the bench and give them a good whack to push them out.
This is much harder oncar as the arms will try to bounce.
I will assume you don't have a press but with luck you have a vice.
get a socket that just fits over the bottom of the ball joint and a bit of tube to go on the top side. just assemble them in the vice so the socket pushes the ball joint in via the lip and the tube pushes the arm down nice and square.

i used a press that i have...its a 6 tonn press and it was at its max when i was installing the ball joints....but it worked and it comes in handy and at 80 bucks it was cheap and well worth it as i re bushed my VN suspension with it and soon to be VS suspension
