I have a VN commodore with a exhaust that keeps knocking on the side of the fuel tank at idle. Rubber hangers seemed to be alright but still seems to hit the tank. Does anyone know the problem or have a solution to this? Do the rubber hangers maybe stretch, hench the problem?
You sure it's hitting the tank? It's not the catalytic converter breaking down? They can rattle when the insides of them start to fall apart.
If it is hitting the tank, it could be the rubbers, they don't last for ever. Or it could be loose further up the system?
Nah definetly not the cat. When the car is idleing and you push on the exhaust with your foot, the noise goes away. I also know its hitting the fuel tank because of the marks its made on it
My VN does the same. Rubs against the suspension etc.
But that's only cause it was stolen not long ago, and the effers went airborne and bent it out..... :\
Thanks alot for the replies guys. I will replace the hangers and check the brackets and see how I go
most of the rear brackets are welded on and can be attached wrong.
I had one that was mounted so high up it melted the bar skin.
