Default Signs of Center Bearing Going???

Just wondering if the wet patches that are inline with the Center Bearing would be possible signs of the bearing on its last legs. There is a vibration when the car is warmed up and idling in gear...it goes mostly away when I put it in neutral.

Spot on - she's gone if you get the line of grease. Vibration just confirms it.

    Time for a newie.

thanks for that.....glad I didn't do all the other things I was gunna do because of the vibration....now, is it just a matter of changing the bearing over, or do I need to get it pressed in?

mark the tailshaft before you seperate it otherwise the vibration will b ereal bad and your unis will be working against themselves.

mine needs to be replaces, i havnt looked at it yet but i get the vibration in drive ad not in neutral but i was wandering if this is the cause of vibration during acceleration (usual in 3rd but not 4th) and declaration in 3rd but not 4th again???

that means its on its way out, the vibration is from the load being applied

ghost, check your gearbox rear mount. apparently a missing allen bolt is a common cause of vibrations in 3rd.

I changed the entire tailshaft and most of the vibrations are gone, still a bit there...hopefully that will all go once I put a new center bearing in the original shaft as well as putting the new engine mounts in.
How can I check the balance shaft and bearings while I have the manifold off? S1 V6
