I just got a VP and am changing the car audio system from stock (adding a cd deck) and replacing the old manual antenna cause its broken and want a power antenna in there.
Can I get some info.
Does the stock have all the wiring for the power antenna installed?
And what would I need other than antenna to be able to use a power antenna?
Thanks
Well, the antenna automatically goes up when the radio is turned on, and down when the car is turned off, so I would assume the manual controls on the dash facia wouldn't be needed.
True they may not be with some of the auto ones you can buy, but if you want it to run like a stock one off the pam then you will need the manual controls to set the hight of it.

You should consider getting a VS statesman window mounted one, then smoothing the 1/4 panel. Thats what i'm doing.

Yeah he will. VN/P are in the switchblock. VR/S are under the radio

perhaps you could use it like this: wire up the antenna to power, and simply connect the remote or whatever wire it is to the headunit. then it should automatically go up/down depending on what state the radio is in. shouldn't need the manual controls on the dash.
how the hell do you get to the aerial anyway. i need to replace mine but i'll probably just go manual, i don't care about it retracting.
Yup, it's the black plastic wheel arch guard you have to pull back. Remove all the screws you can see, then wrestle it back with a bit of force. It'll move![]()

Zuicider is correct, without this module, you will just have an expensive manual antenna. I know on the VN, the wiring is already there in the loom, just plug and go. Also the dash buttons are needed, if you want to be able to raise/lower the antenna while listening to the radio.
There is a white plug above the ECU that may or may not be connected to a antenna control module. There is 12V, 0V, (Up, Down from the buttons) and antenna remote from the head unit. Go and grab a 6 pin plug from narva (repco etc), suprisingly its a near perfect fit into the factory loom plug. Terminate your new antenna wires into your new plug and plug it bro. This will give you a very professional installation as you don't need to splice into the factory wiring. HTH
i have a vp berlina with electric antenna, when i turn on the car it always goes up but sooner or later it desides it wants to go down, and i have to hold my finger on the 'up' button on the dash to keep it up, whats going on here?? does anybody know cheers
i swapped the electric aerial in my VQ yesterday, the key thing i think is that the two yellow and white plugs next to the aerial that run into the car with the aerial cable are connected properly and that the aerial is earthed properly. i know that in VR/VS you can't adjust the aerial at all whilst the tape/cd player is on. also the aerial is set to retract independently of the driver. could be something there
