Hi guys,
I just brought an el cheapo Commodore VN Berlina with the small 4 cylinder opel engine in it. Its manual and the problem is when I take the clutch out the car jerks backwards and forwards alot, almost like its bunny hopping. Now, I know how to drive a manual, I have driven a few before this car but this one is really hard to get used to. I was speaking with the previous owner and he said there was a fine line and had to get the power to clutch ratio just right. Is he full of **** or am I just been a knobmuffin?? He also said it could be adjusted, I had a look underneath my car and saw the clutch cable hooked up to what looked like the fork, it looked like it could be adjusted with a nut. How do you adjust it??
Its done 210,000ks, is it just getting old???
Does anyone have any service manuals on those Opel engines?? (20SEH)
Cheers
Well i can tell you that the 4 cylinder dont exist (altho i think there may be one or two) in Australia.
If its got the T5 with the 4 cyl or has a similar box that has the clutch adjustment the same it will be on the box on the driver's side. On the T5 you have a plastic nut that u turn to adjust it. Should have it so the clutch pedal is sitting jsut a bit further out then the brake.
Remember tho ive given you this info based on a V6.

I have a T5 V8 VQ Statesman, and I can tell ya it's the steepest learning curve I've ever had getting used to this thing. When it's cold, the car will rock back and forth in 3rd gear if you don't pop the clutch in while decelerating.
It may take some getting used to, it took me a few weeks. But I can drive this baby smooth as silk now if I double-clutch and rev-match properly.
All I can suggest, is that when you're launching it, use less throttle and ride the clutch for a bit longer.

Cheers guys
I'll give it a few weeks and see what happens.
It is a NZ model, it has the little Opel engine in it. It maybe small but still has some go.
Do you guys know where I can get a full service manual online?? I know there are sites that phatg20.net that do manuals for Nissans, is there a Holden site??

You guys are lucky, I was driving my VN and the petrol gauge starting going down quickly, so I pulled over and looked under the car to find a puddle of petrol. With the bonnet open I started the car and found petrol gushing out from below the intake manifold (I suspect its a ****ed gasket). Got my mates VL to tow me home, lol. I hope its an easy fix!! Lost 40 bucks of petrol too!!
I have searched over the internet for details on my engine but I cant find anything. I know that the 20SEH is a Opel engine, so I could buy another engine and do a swap if it turns out the current engine is buggered.
