engine identification numbers

can anyone tell me the different id numbers for all the engines from the VN onwards? I know the VR V6 is L67.

eg: VN V6=
VN V8 (injected 304/5L)=

etc etc etc

I know all the sizes that were available in each model etc and i know the gearbox numbers of all the different gearboxes, but I never read or hear of id numbers for the engines.
