the vn vp remotes are they still available from holden and can they be coded easy to suit sercurity modules?
Yes, I ordered mine from Preston Motors in Dandenong, give them a call and see if they have any in stock.
Yes they are easily coded, take it to a Holden dealer and they'll do it for $50.
damn i better fiddle with my ebay listing, any ideas what they are worth new? i just remember a dude trying to get a hey remotes for a vq bcm and they told him they stopped making those
Can the VT etc ones be coded like the Vp's etc or some other solution to get a VT style integrated key and remote??? I have always wondered...
no idea probably
the VT ones can't be programed on the calais version VP I now that for sure, and my VP key remote cost me $140NZD and got the guy to code it for me
When they say "remote" do they mean the immobilizer remote? cause my case is in 2 pieces![]()
Ive been told by holden that every model from vn onwards they keep a record from your vin number so you can get another immobilizer remote.
Also holden can programme a remote, or you can take it to a key cutter you normlly see in shopping centers and they can do it as well.
if the insides are good you can just get the case, i got the 2 button case ordered in for me from a NSW store in Boyded. there were only 6 left (in australia) when i ordered mine... cost $40 including postage. rip off, but I needed it.
Key cutters can recut the override key, but they can't reprogram the remotes. Only holden dealers can do that.
In VP theres 2 remotes, single button, and 2 button. Single button ones are made my mongoose, and you can't get them anymore. Holden still have 2 button ones in stock, there $70 each.
You can however reprogram a remote if its already been programmed to another car. They told me you cant, yet i gave them 2 new remotes and a 2ndhand one that was programmed to someone elses car, and they gave me back the new one and the 2nd hand one for my car.

thats what i meant, if you already have a half dodgy remote a key cutter can reprogram a remote with your specific setting on it, the same way car theifs steal your remote signal when you press a button, the device (which is illegal unless your in the trade) captures the signal and stores it

BRAND NEW VP Commodore remote (SHELL ONLY) - eBay, Other Car Parts, Accessories, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 15-Nov-08 08:59:01 AEDST)
he has listed 4 more they are genuine too
Holden have the 2 buttons ones for $70. The shell is only really good if your buttons are damaged, although personally i'd just ditch it, and get a brand new one.

hmm thats got me thinking becasue the previous owner put an aftermarket antenna into it!
And yep its electric, i cant see how it would be making a low signal range though since i can receive radio stations etc?? or could it be as simple as a wire going to the antenna may be faulty?
Glad I checked back into this thread...Just got one of those cases...
new price for VP security remotes is $93.50, i got mine through holden... who get them from Mongoose.... also if you're looking for the security code you don't have to pull the dash apart... go to a holden dealer and ask for a printout of you original security codes,
"you have to take your blue slip and a form of photo ID" (namely a drivers licence ... derrrr)
thats what i got told when i called the customer service desk in melbourne
haha so im bushed if i got the sercurties from another car
I already explained everything above. Dig for nothing!
The mongoose remotes (single button) are now obsolete, and even mongoose themselves cant get them made, I was led to believe i had that type of remote, when infact i had the 2 button holden one, of which holden still have some stock, and sell for $70, plus $50 or so for programming!
