    Default Fuel pump **** itself?

Hi there. this should be easy to answer, just trying to get confirmation really. About a week ago my mate ran his vn v6 dry (by accident). yesterday he was driving along and it just conked out and wouldnt start again. i went to try find the problem, and when i put it on start, i couldnt hear the pump priming. Im guessing he has rooted the pump?? just making sure before we go out and buy a new one. Cheers.

It is a common story - run dry & dies. Have you given the tanks a good old whack? Sometimes can get one more go out of it.

While only pulling it out and doing the test to see if you can get it to pump will tell you for sure.

Running dry will kill them They like to stay lubed up, especially the old ones. I've killed a pump this way before.

I've posted this before but it's easy to check that the pump is not running by bridging the 87 and 30 terminals in the fuel pump relay connector together then listen. If the pump (still) doesn't run, then check across the terminals at the fuel pump connector at the tank with a test light and work back from there if it doesn't. It's worth checking the easy things like the relay and fuse first too.
