Default How hard to add some Bling?

Had the crazy thought of chroming my rear hatch handle (Wagon) and door handles. Just wondering how to go about it or if its even possible?

door handles can be had on ebay for a price, theyre a direct swap between vn-vs, sedan, wagon all the same.

tailgate handle, you'll have to rip it off or grab a spare and take it to a place that does plastic chroming

Okay, well was hoping to do it myself. How much would it cost though to have it done professionally?

    dunno, never got it priced.

you can get the stock vr/s door handles, theyre cast aluminum, strip the paint and polish them up.

heres one i did. spray on paint stripper and autosol polish.

ebay or wreckers is your best bet. they got for around $50 a set from memory on ebay, sometimes less if you're lucky. ring your local wreckers for a price from them. i think i p[aid maybe $10 a handle including surrounds last set i got.

You can actually get the interior handles which are genuine and not plastic. Think they're the old Statesmen ones and they're chrome looking. Saw them on ebay just today. Expensive though

Hey hakhawk, so just strip them back the polish them up yeah?
Would a coat of clear stop them from rusting away?
I'm going to do that I'm thinking.
    Cheers mate.

    Cheers mate.
    theyre aluminum, not steel.

a clearcoat would protect them and stop oxidisation and such, but it really dulls the finish down.

ive had mine sitting around in the shed for a while with no clearcoat and theyre fine, tho dull from no polish in a while.

my next set(which need some minor clearancing for a mod) im going to just get chromed. much less upkeep on them.
