VN engine error code 15

Hi all,

My VN was running rough when cold and the engine light was on. It ran Ok when at operating temp.

I checked the error codes an a error 15 was reported. I replaced the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) senor and checked the voltage supplied to it which was 5v

After resetting the errors in the computer and starting the engine the I allowed the idle to reset itself and turned the engine off.

When I turned on the ignition the engine cooling fan came on and after starting the engine the error light came on again. I checked to make sure the computer was not in diag mode.

I checked the error code again an have received the same code again.

I have checked the new sensor and its resistance decreases with heat and I have checked the connections to make sure they are clean and tight.

Please help.

ya the ECU can be a prick ... it can be last thing you think of replacing ..
