Hey,
I needed to replace my seat belt in my VG. Now the one I took out of a wreck or not wreck but it's not registered. Now I have put the seat belt in my VG. It's a pain to pull the seat belt out to put on. Took me 20 minutes the other day after work to put it on.
Now I thought well since the ute has now passed rego, I will put my old seat belt on. Until I can find another working seat belt.
Now my original seat belt has the same problem. I have a third seat belt of the this spare car we have same problem.
I am wondering is there a trick to removing seat belts and installing?
Or is there some kind of safety feature that renders the seat belts unusable once they are removed?
Sounds silly, but we have another spare seat belt in the shed that came out in working order and I went to put it in and it has the same problem?
Thanks,
Yours Kindly,
Jim
there is a ball bearing in the seat belt retractor, when you install the seat belt it has to be on the perfect angle for it to work other wise it will lock it up. it might not be straight enough where you have bolted it in you might need to ajust it a couple of mm till it comes good.
sorry if my answer is confusing i just cant think of any other way to explain it
Thanks mate, I pulled apart my old one and saw that ball bearing I will take your advice and see how I go.
Yours Kindly,
Jim
