so the other day i when i started my car after not running it for a few days it was a bit hard to start.
held the key on 'start' and it sounded like the starter motor was just turning over really slow, after a couple of seconds of this it turned over and was fine, only my stereo had forgotten all its settings, and maybe the ecu too. the level 3 dash was fine but.
i stopped at the shops and after that it started fine. but it happened the next day, and that was easier to start. checked the battery fluid and topped it up cos cells were showing. seemed fine after that and this morning. but this arvo it was bung again adn the stereo forgot its **** again.
so i dunno, earthing/slow current leak, alternator? starter brushes? battery dead from low water + hot days?
i'll try to chuck a wav up of it.
battery dead i would say, not enough juice to crank her over properly. and she aint holding her charge
maybe also check the brushes on the alternator, i ****ed a good battery like that with ****ed brushes
will the battery be dead still after adding water to it?
ok, so i also noticed the connection to the positive terminal was a bit loose so i tightened that up.
read a thread taht mentioned 'Be suspicious of your alternator, if the regulator drops a diode, it will slowly flatten your battery, should draw about 5 amps, measure it with your meter and see.'
i have a multimeter but don't know how to do this, can anyone advise.
if i am in for a new battery are there any brands/models that are good or ****e? i was just going to get the midrange century one from ricerbarn.
