    Default changing alternator

    Hey, gotta change the alternator in the step-dads car tomorrow (well, actually today ) I know how to get the alternator off, just not sure how to lossen the belt...Thank for any help

    I did mine, when you loosen all the bolts the alternator tips in a bit and lets slack onto the belt. If its a 6 though, not sure as never done one but cant imagine it to be to hard, there must be a tensioner pulley in there somwhere you can play with. And remember to check the wire around the lug is not burt if its the 6 too.

    what kind of car? v6? if its a VN-VR engine, there is a tensioner pulley next to the alternator. stick a 19mm spanner i think on it and twist it to loosen the belt

    yea pretty mucha s stocky said its to the left of the alterator and u pull the spanner to the left and it will rise, jst gt sum1 to knock the belt off then let the tensioner back down

    Musn't be that engine...there is not tensioner puller...it's a VN/VP motor...not VR, hence why it's in the VN/VP section...

    ...bit of trivia here... you can use the wheel brace on the tensioner nut too as the nut is (close to) the same size as the wheel nuts... i found that out the hard way on the side of the freeway...
