    Default VQ Climate Control

    Hi guys

So the Statto air con hasn't been working for a while now. Only blows hot air in the summer, on cold days it blows cold but i'm not sure if thats bc its cold outside or it's working a little bit with the cold air.

well i was trawling through the net to find out the prob, came across the self diagnose procedure on here. it showed fault 25. so i promptly went to the wreckers and got another one (apparently there obsolete now). but it still shows fault 25. is there anyway to check if its the sensor or the wiring (oh god i hope not).

Also the only way i can get the a/c to turn on is if i push the auto button, the a/c sign doesnt work if i push the a/c button.

    any help is much appreciated
    cheers

Code 25 is the sun sensor.

When in auto mode the car uses the sun sensor to regulate how much air to blow - when cloudy = less air.

The system not working the a/c in manual mode would point to the problem.

Also last winter my cc would not blow hot air and it turned out the plug in the control module was not all the way home. Have you had the unit out at all or played with the radio? could be that simple. (if only he says)

Is the a/c compressor kicking in?

A/c unit have any gas in it?

If you dont need the sun sensor that you just purchased - sell it to me

Hi Green thanks for the prompt reply.

well i tried it again, and it now comes up with 20 (i tested it under the carport the first time and at the wreckers). so the sensor is working i gather.

when i push the auto, then change something else like recyle air or change vents used, it goes into manual mode. not sure what thats about.

yes i have been playing with the radio, but made sure all the plugs are in tight. one Q though, the tube on the bottom of the unit whats that for bc sometimes im not sure if i have put it back on properly as it only reaches when the unit is all the way in.

The unit does kick in, i can hear the click of the compressor.

had it gassed two years ago, but still didn't "condition" like it should.

if you would like i'd be happy to sell it to you.

    cheers

The small tube - I've not looked at that bit - and yes only just long enough too. It may be it grabs the inside air to test temp???

I'll grab my book out tonight and have a look over it - see what it says. (grubby hands right now)

PM the sun sensor details to me. we can go from there on that.

Yeah that's standard, I'm not really sure what the point of it is though. So has it improved since changing sensor? No? Only gives a different code?

Cheers for that. now i can be assured the climate head unit is working properly.

No it hasn't changed since putting in the other sensor. only shows no sensor faults now. as you know it not hot today in adelaide so can't test the system adequately, but it's not blowing air that much colder than outside.

    cheers

Yep. There is a little thermistor in the bottom of the climate control unit and the hose directs air over that.
