    Question VP Calais extractors

Which extractors will fit a VP V6 Calais auto?? I understand the Calais steering rack is different to the other VN/VPs.. does this impact on extractors at all?

Will any VN / VP V6 auto extractors bolt up? Thinking in terms of looking for a second hand set.

you love asking questions for me on JC sam :P

running with the theme, if anyone has a set of performance extractors for sale that would suit my car, and if you live in the canberra/sydney area...make me an offer =)

hmm. That will make finding second hand ones a bit tricky... and Jordan I'm asking for me as well I just don't need them yet.

Guy at Belconnen Exhaust Centre told me today that he has three sets available for my car. Wildcat extractors for $650, Genie extractors for $880, and Pacemaker extractors for $945...all fully installed.

Is it worth paying the extra $300 for Pacemaker ones, or will Wildcat do the same thing?

if it matters, i just got stato pacemaker extractors to fit my vr v8 just fine. stato ones should be similar to calais, due to the different steering rack.

haha dude just buy them, not installed.. do it yourself

I reckon it should be easy, just need to drop one end of the rack down to fit them I think. Lot cheaper man, and good fun!

calais/stato headers are shaped differently to clear the variable speed steering rack installed in these cars. i fit stato headers onto a standard commodore and they cleared a normal steering rack. v6 to v8, i doubt would make a difference.

OK so stato/calais extractors may fit a standard commo but I doubt it works the other way around..

yeah. that was with my pacemakers anyway. im not sure how different it would be with other brands. and i am only assuming that v6/v8 doesnt make a difference

I thought VP Calais were the only model with variable power steering? thought VR Stato went back to normal racks, because of the head**** they had with the VPs

well the number on the headers was 5000V which is the pacemaker code for statos with those racks

Its the code for Calais, Caprice and Statesman, and it says it will fit variable ratio but I don't think VQ had variable ratio.

Was variable ratio steering only on auto models? Because there is no listing for manual models with variable ratio?

There isn't that many factory manual Calais, so that would make sense.
