Hey guy's,
Iv got a 1989 Yellow VN BT-1, Everything absolutly Original and to the BT-1 spec apart from the engine bay been Smoothed and Wiring hiddin.
The work is still being done by Spot on Electical (Steff aka STOWLN)
So Obviously it will be mint Cond.............
Its got the Original Brown Interior in like New Condition.
Hole car is Complete only thing that its missing is the Motor and Box.
Just wondering what it would be worth with out motor and box and what it would be with motor and box.
Cheers VNCPTR
LOL, you wouldnt get much for the car without the engine and box, maybe $500-$800, I've seen mint looking SS's go for $1200 without the engine and box so you cant expect much for your BT1
like it has been said, not much......
BT1 means nothing at the end of the day, so if you were selling a mint Vn Exec shell, you could expect up to $500 for it if someone was really keen. You'll be hard-pressed to find a buyer though. With running gear, $2000, or $3000 if you find a sucker.
Put it into perspective: I bought my VQ V8 in mint condition, with 6mth registration AND roadworthy and $1500 of towing gear, for $3000.

Maybe im ignorant but as far as im aware BT motor and gearbox arent different to an exec? apart from the fabled 'cop tune' it should just be an exec with a stamped BT1, man when my gf got hers i kept saying it wasnt a bt1 cos it was just a standard executive until the build plate said it was.
So ill say no more than 3k if its all mint
so in saying all this guys, tell me why the yellow VN BT's are not common and when iv seen one for sale they ask for like 9k or something like that??
Why dose a VLT BT-1 in Orig Cond go for around that price, like 5k plus and they are common as **** but a VN yellow BT-1 in Orig cond u hardly see but expect to get less for?? to me that dont make sence really,
how is a VL better then a VN??
They are both exec's have nothing special other then that tag saying BT-1......
Just wondering, im not upset or haveing a dig at anything just curious.
Cheers VNCPTR
Because there's more people out there who "worship" the VL than there are people who "worship" the VN. Also, it's harder to find a VL in mint condition these days
I think VLs in perfect condition will always fetch higher prices than VNs in similar condition.

VLs have a cult following. people will pay 5-10k for a ****ed one just because its got a turbo.
VN BT1s for 9k are overpriced and youd be pretty stupid to pay more for one just because its a BT1. anyone that wants a VL BT1 wont bother looking at a VN one, because they cant get them to dose.
if prices stayed like that, a VS BT1 would be 15k, VT 9C1 would be 20, etc, etc. noones going to pay that just for a little number etched into a hidden piece of metal in the engine bay

hahah, yer i dont get that, a 5 litre runs rings around a RB30 that has a Turbo and sneezes every time u change gear, dont get me wrong i do like that sound but when it comes doen to what u want to last ova the long ran, 5 litre has my vote by far.
The VL BT might be popular and more ppl worship them but they also say the VL's were just money pits....... if thats so why buy one??
I like my VN coz i have the biggest spot for a VN besides that you hardly see a yellow VN BT-1 thats All original. But each to there own...
its just a cult thing. they must want the dosing sound for attention, and all the muzzas love the vls. they just want a quick streeter that gets attention, and a yellow vl with a turbo does that

Yep^
The most sough after VN's within reason are the SS's i believe and the turbo canary yellow Bt1 dont even get started on how prolific they were/are.
BTW : my girlfriend got her immaculate 140,000km white VS Bt1 for 7k last year sometime so although the VNs look tough (not in yellow)
whos gonna pay 9k for a vn compared to 7k for a VS? a hardcore fan and theres not that many mate. Not to say your car isnt nice but it just aint worth the $$
yer nar thats cool guys i couldnt care less if it was worth 1k, to me its priceless, i love it, and thats the main thing,
i was just wondering y it is that a VL that are so un reliable and yet ppl still buy them for a outragous price compared to a VN, but all good, i thank you guys for givin me more info and a better view as to why these cars go for what they do.
Cheers
If it's any consolation, I'm hoping VQs pick up a cult following in the next decade ^_^

since the engine and box are missing and prob not original, that would bring it down in price...
and the vl's are special because they have a turbo..... main reason
if i was buying it i would only be willing to pay $200-$500 and would be looking for gas for the upper end of the price range.
Once you take the engine and box out it may as well be a v6 exec cause most bt1's don't have a bodykit and very little other stuff you may want.
Got a vp cop car with country suspension, and like the extra ground clearance.
what's BT-1 Spec? Police dash? FE2? was this a v8 or a 6? If so, i just sold my 'bt-1' for $1250 WITH engine and box. i don't even know, and i sure didn't even advertise it as bt-1 because it doesn't make any difference.
you cant put a price on a vn unless its been test driven & seen in the flesh there are way too many flaws they have that can be over looked.
without a motor or box it would be worth about 500 in average condition, it is reaaly mint, like mint mint, id say anything up to 2 grand.
Plus BT1's might seem like the ultimate hoon car but at the end of the day there just as good as a rundown fleet car, what would your driving syle be if you had a brand new cop car and you were at the pedal back in he day? im sure the cops had their fair share of fun in it when it was new then it was probably auctioned off to some hoon, then offloaded to another hoon, etc etc... ive seen it on u-tube why not keep it looks alright from the vid's?
There was a bloke up in QLD selling a VP BT1 with 115,000km on the clock. He was asking $5000 when I moved up there... and it was still for sale when I left 6mths later ^_^
