savage1987 lexcen up in smoke

sumthing weird today, was installing a calais loom into savages vn/lexcen put it all together as specified. put the dash and switches back in. after a lil bit she started sending plumes of smoke from the back of the dash then flames. melted all of the dash and the wiring. any reason why this would have happened?

did you put a VR/VS cluster into it? check that the pins all line up the same as the old one on the 3 connectors?

i followed the installing loom diagrams and nah its a vn cluster

you 100% sure its a vn cluster?

as stocky said, (if the circuit board isnt melted) check the pinouts are in the same spots on the 3 main plugs.

its simply either an incorrect cluster and pcb or a stuff up in wiring.

yeah maybe but the flames have ****ed all the plugs at the back

Sam sent me the pin outs for the cluster and it all lined up OK as far as I could tell.

The main reason for a melt down is one of the connectors going back in upside down.

It was all tape up very well and I looked over it twice before I sent it.

What were the wires that arked?

ahhaha sorry mate, yea car's fine had absolutely no problems with your loom apart from some initial confusion with the orange / white wire.. but that was just us being dumb I think.

do u require any other parts of this vq stato loom i choped up? like the behind the dash plugs and ****e? i have a snap on plug removal kit too so i can remove them with plenty of wire without ****ing them

The only parts I'm looking for right now is a VN trip computer switch block for the buttons and rubber mat thing. I'm making up a VP unit for fun

The climate control stuff is going into the wagon over xmas. I pick up a sun sensor tomorrow. Just need to find out if I can leave the heater box in.
