Heres one for yas,
got a vp v8 commodore - been in a front ender ...
then damage extended as far snapping the throttle body off, and denting the fuel rail,
radiator replaced,
clutch fan binned but au twin thermos included,
new throttle body plus manifold rewelded so it can be remounted,
new charcoal cannister,
fuel rail no longer available so had a piece welded on and braided line for new fuel rail connector
water pump replaced as was smashed - checked timing cover case all ok
problem i have now is
car cranks over but does not start - the odd backfire tho (car is auto
checked fuel got fuel throughout the whole fuel rail
checked spark on all leads - got spark
checked ignitions module - was new 3months ago sould be ok - not damaged
no error codes apparant
any ideas fellas before it goes off to a mechanic in the next few days???
anyhoen got any ideas what i might have damaged that is hidden from plain view???
If you have spark and fuel then there isn't much left. Whack a multimeter on the injectors and make sure they are pulsing. Maybe you damaged the loom or blew a fuse in the crash?
Reaper
yeh jst did that thanx - only have a vr / vs gregories v8 manual but i assume its all pretty similar throughout that side of things sounds ok and u can hear injecotors pulsing
i forgot to mention before if it helps the horn thing for the immobiliser was smashed so we took it out - we took the whole immobiliser out it and rewired ignition back up the way it was - dunno if this has any bearing on it but i believe its done properly as door locks no longer work on remote and it doesnt require the remote to kick over the whole immobiliser box was taken out of car.....
If you are getting spark then ignition is fine. How do you know you have the correct pressure in the fuel rail?
Reaper
i dont have a pressure tester so i guess i dont know - however took the fuel hose off and it pumps out fuel at both ends of the rail so leasti know is its getting fuel throughtout the rail - no leaks evident
compression test and remove a tappet cover to get an idea if maybe the timing chain has jumped.
Also make sure all the valve open and close.
I HAVE seen a old hemi 318 hit a pole and snap the camshaft inside the engine.
check the wiring loom for damage to.
+1 for compression check. It wouldnt be a damaged dizzy too, if it got hit that hard.
could it be a damaged dizzy or rotor at the back of the engine?? never really thought to look there coz its so far away from the damage - the damage was done by a towball on a 4wd hitting the bonnet - so the damage was caused buy the bonnet folding back
oh and wiill try to arrange a compression test today let ya know the results
could be the dissy if there was some force it could have crushed it against the firewall.
Thats at the top of the list in my books.
I would maybe double cheeck the TB wiring make sure none of it is damaged.

got the dizzy is hard to get off though - damn -----
check your timing, before dizzy out just to see whats going on, maybe it has snapped timing chain and you wouldn't even know, does it turn over easier than usual? take a rocker cover off check they're doing their thing, then time the beast to factory specs etc. If you have fuel compression and spark, the only other thing could be the timing of that spark causing it to backfire etc
update:
just to let you know ---
mechanic found 2 leads in wrong position apparantly - and also said coz the battery had been off for so long either that ir the accident has flooded the ecu with error codes and needed to be cleared before the enine would fire.
GOODNEWS is shes a goer yay another v8 about to be put back on the road
