hi guys i have a VP 304 not the original motor was a V6 any way i dont know if it is a slug or if that is just how it is but thinking back to my old VK 308 i think it went harder.....when you take off for the first 10sec it gose good then feels like the power drops out a bit...i know this is not much to go on but i have only driven the car 2 times...but would still like some in put to what is causing it to have a power drop if it is having a power drop
Nat
could be the fuel pump or dirty fuel filter so is leans out when floored? vk's are a bit lighter but not as much power so dunno about that.
Do the normal thngs like plugs and leads - maybe a rotor button & dizzy cap & fuel filter.
Then get a tuned memcal.

and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
Chances are there's somethng wrong with it, a standard VP 304 is infinatly faster than a VK with a 308

hmmm if you floor it are they weant to spin??? mine when you floor if you get little churpies but has a LSD i would think if it did not have a LSD it would spin
What sort of tyres have you got on the back? My bog stock V8 Auto Statesman would light up the rears with LSD and IRS.

PS after 10 seconds in a stock 304 you would be doing anywhere between 120 and 130km/h
First thing to do is check the fuel system. Make sure it is running the correct pressure (I think mine sits at around 40lbs) in the fuel rail. Next make sure your ignition system is up to spec. New dizzy cap, rotor button, leads, plugs and coil if they look like they haven't been changed in a while. Check your timing is set correctly (10 deg with the computer set in diagnostic mode).
Reaper
EDIT double post dont know how that happened

With engine idling copnnect a paper clip or thin wire across A and B in diagram i posted (black and White wires). The diagnostic connector is located in pasenger footwell next to kick panel and underneath glovebox will look like the picture i posted.
Use the timing light to check timing against the mark on the crankshaft pulley against the timing marks on the timing cover.
Timing is 10 degrees BTDC (Before Top Dead Center) or also Advance side of TDC mark. Each mark is 2 degrees therefore you should be 5 marks before the TDC on the advance side.
If your timing is out you'll need to loosen your distributer clamp and adjust dissy till it is correct. Retighten clamp and check timing again to make sure it hasnt moved.
If all is good remove diag connector bridge wire and away you go

so no one knows what may be happening??
umm read the posts mate.
These guys have taken the time to answer your very vague question the least you could do is read them.
Basic tune up like you do when you buy a car.
filters oil plugs leads dizzy cap and rotor button.
also check for error codes and check timing.
VP'S will tell you what is wrong most of the time.
Wrong plug
haha yeah was about to say that foam. plug should be 2 rows, 4 pins long, with two pins missing on the bottom row if i remember. its hiding above your ecu on the passenger side

Theres no way in hell your going to spin 2 x 235 tyres with irs on a stock 5 litre -EDIT without doing a linelocker EDIT-. What i used to do in the statesman is rev up to around 2500 rpm with the foot on the brake and mash the accelerator, i used to only chirp the wheel in the dry and that was with a single pegger : p put some 205's on it and youll have no trouble.

thats what i meant sorry, you do mean doing a line locker? i meant just flat chat from the lights without stalling it up it wont spin, whats your mate running? theres alot of factors such as tyre brand and rim size,as well as modifications. Even with a full set of bolt ons it gives the 5 litre a kick in the bum.
Look at getting a new tune, exhaust, cai and shift kit for flatout performance.
and you might see it as being a downgrade, but it actually makes you faster overall off the mark with the wide wheels and irs.
Did you put the LSD in yourself? if its standard you will find it will be a single pegger.
