Default shot peening VP rods ?

hey guys im building the bottom end in my VN its got a Vp block, just got the cam in, dummy assembeld it, and the valve is hitting piston, spending the money and gettin good pistons, but im wondering how strong the original rods will be if they were shot peened and peen polished,

rods and pistons are way over priced for the V6's

How much power are you running? It's very seldom that those motors spit a leg out of bed.

the best factory rods are suppose to be in the VR buick motors. apparently they used the turbo rods. excessive revs break rods so as long as you don't rev the nuts of it and make is sing a 9grand tune you should be right

I'm guessing by your username that its going to be running boost. I doubt you'll throw a rod if its tuned properly and you dont go spastic with revs. Get the bottom end balanced aswell. THe V6 i built was balanced and i was able to run without the balance shaft but you can still leave it in.
I would love to know how you how your valve is hitting the piston. Have you had the block and heads decked alot???

the valve hitting the piston may be possible if the cam timing is out

I've seen a picture of all the rods together on SC once, I think the VN-VR ones all look the same, all much more meaty than the ecotec or even the L67 rods, but the VP/VR motors allways seem to be stronger than the series one engine, it's usually the way the newer then motor the better the metals the longer it lasts. The turbo buick rods and pistons go in with a small mod and are relly cheap to buy
