If the ECM is not seeing a speed sensor signal, the idle will be affected as the ECM has no way of knowing when the car is idling versus driving down the road. I would suggest fix the speed sensor problem and the idle problem will go away. The most likely problem, if you want to guess rather than diagnose it systematically, is the sensor itself, which is the black plastic cylinder with the electrical plug on it, located on the back of the transmission.

An overfilled auto trans. level can cause shift problems and long term will kill the trans. You haven't said how you are checking it but in Park, engine running is correct - it will appear overfull if you try to check it with the engine off.

The oil level will also vary with trans. temp. The correct way is to drive the car until the trans. reaches operating temp. first. As a guide, if you can't touch the dipstick end without burning your fingers, it's at operating temp.

If you do need to drain some oil out, undo the top hose to the auto oil cooler in the radiator at the line (as distinct from the radiator) end and direct it into a suitable container. (I find it easier to remove the engine cooling fan first - 4X 10mm head bolts and one electrical connector). To pump the oil out, have someone else start the car and signal that person to shut the engine off when desired. Watch the fingers around an operating engine and communicate well It's also a good idea to have some new replacement fluid available in case you remove more than is needed.
