    Default Exhaust goes quiet

    hey all

im pretty sure cat is stock but from cat back in 2.5'' pipe with 1muffler box at rear wheels. When the car hits about 3,000RPM the noise like goes quite... what can i do to make the noise continue through to high Revs. cos it changes gears around 3,000-3,500RPM and it starting to annoy me when it goes quite at 3,000RPMS.

    cheers

if you have a v6: sorry to break this to you but the only way to fix this problem is to buy a v8. just kidding. a v6 can be loud, but sounds like arse.

from your post, i didn't quite get your system. do you have CAT -> MUFFLER -> RESONATOR? muffler is just after the cat, resonator is after the diff. if you have a resonator, remove it. if you don't then you may purchase a new muffler (straight-through) or exhaust.

try installing a different muffler. go into an exhaust shop, tell them what you want and they will sort you out.

Why would you want an increased level of noise. If you're not sure if the engine is still running - you can always check the tacho. It works for me !!

being a vn exec i doubt he has a tacho

im gathering from the fact its quite after 3000 that its a v6, my first car had the same problem. straight through cat-back exhaust systems will fix your problem, but dont expect it to sound great.

    Fixed.....

EDIT: Also, the problem I have just described is one I am having. Looks like it's time for a new exhaust

get a stock exhaust, or definitely one with a muffler and resonator! resonator should remove that disgusting sound down low.

baaaaaah who needs an exhaust, if you want loud take the whole thing off

you wont like the attention or your ears bleeding from the drone, but atleast it will be loud

Yeah, I do have 2 mufflers but the rear one isn't worth the steel its made from. New one will probably be my christmas present to myself.
Nevermind me, I just don't see the point of getting an exhaust simply to make as much noise as you can

Exhaust systems are compromised to ensure they comply with laws and standards. If there were no laws or standards in place, then they would be a whole lot different as they would purely be optimised for performance only. Sound 'quality' might go right out the window with some engine types, but some engines would sound downright horny if they only had a couple of feet of pipe lol

I just realised this is a meaningless post. Thanks for reading it he he he

Stock exhaust sounds soo much better than a 2.5 inch pipe on a dead stock v6, trust me. All you will gain is a little more top end push, reduced off the mark acceleration and a annoying drone that can be recognised from a mile away.

vp v6 lpg system 70mm throttle body, extractors and no resonator and a kitted auto leaves the local stock vr ss's behind.
It MUST be the RED paint on the extractors that makes it go hardish.

just a quick question, i only have standard from car to middle muffle near end of gearbox, (so everyone understands) then 2.5" from there out, and mine is quiet loud from round 1600-3200, and also a vn when ur just cruising round town in an auto it should be changing a lot lower than 3000, id say around 2500 give or take, correct me if im wrong but id hate it if mine was changng at 3000rpm when cruising
If you do things righ people wont know you have done anything at all...
