Hey guys, driving my car tonight and start hearing a loud clunking noise comming from the front.
Im assuming its a suspension problem as its only happening when im going over bumps, but it doesnt matter what size bump it just does it.
Is this an indication of a worn shock???
Or if not what could a possible problem be?
Cheers,
Anthony

is the car bouncy?
look for wet spots on the struts at the base of the springs, this will indicate leaking shockes.
worn rubbers are a real possibilty.
put it up on stands and grab a bar and see what moves.
anything that moves a lot is a problem.
nah its not bouncy and theres no leaking at the base of the springs, rubber bushes look to be quite worn out but not really sure if its them, will have to get it looked at i think.

I have the same Problem on my VP. While the car is parked I rocked the car on both sides near the front shocks. I can here the noise that you hear while driving over bumps and pot holes, but to a lesser extent. Mine is coming from the drivers side strut.
I haven't had a chance to do any thing further but I suspect the strut insert needs replacing.
Had the same problem, solved after i tightened the center of the shock up as it came losse. (dont know what its called but the part where the shaft goes into the base, you also need a huge ass shifter)
Altho this is for a gas shock, what type do you have? If there still stock i think new ones are a great idea
With your bushes that wouldnt be the problem as mine look like there goning to fall out with how worn they are, including the strut tops![]()

sounds like a shock absorber has lost its fluid but could also be a lowerball joint

I would have suggested a thrown swaybar link-pin bush somewhere in there.

Also, I thought it was so Obvious I didn't reply. I break a link pin rubber every 1000 ks or so, Dunno why, they just seem very breakable. I had a paper bag full of them at one stage

haha, I thought the same. But you break them that often? I know exactly why, Jason, I've heard the stories about how you drive
Since I upgraded to the nolathane z-type link pins I havn't had a broken bush yetThey're far more durable. The bushes are moulded and set into the shape of the washers and bolts now, but they're not showing any sign of cracks
Oh, and you REALLY need to fix your sleeping pattern![]()
