I need help! I've been just about everywhere with no luck. I had to replace my fuel tank and the existing hoses needed to be replaced. Now I have a problem with when I go for a long drive and then stop the car, the charcoal cannister starts to leak fuel, I have swapped the hoses over but still have the same result. I don't have a diagram to see where I may be going wrong, so any and all help would be much appreciated.
the charcoal canister is for fumes only so if there fuel reaching the lines i would check out where its coming from, if the motors running fine then i wouldnt think its coming out of the throttle body so it must be coming from the fuel tank possibly caused by excess pressure, take the tank out and see if the breather lines are blocked.
thanks, but all the breather hoses are new so how could they be blocked? Is there any other reason that this could be happening?
when the fuel tank got out in theres a good chance you have kinked the lines causing a blockage and excess pressure, leading to the overflow line (to charcoal canister)
You do mean breatyher hoses above the fuel tank or do you mean the hoses going from charcoal cansiter-throttle body?
the breather hoses above the fuel tank were changed. Hubby took the hoses off the fuel regulater near the fuel tank and blew air in them and they aren't blocked either. Do you or anyone else have a diagram that you could send me so I can see what to do?
i dont maybe someone else here can help with that, but for now as a test perhaps diagnose exactly where the fuel is coming from, does it only occur on long trips or can it be idling in the driveway and it happens?
it mostly only happens when it's a hot day and on long trips and not idling.
exactly how much is coming out? if its a slow drip everynow and then it may be coming out of the throttle body, the fuel moisture might catch then eventually turn into small droplets.
We will be able to help you out more if you can determine exactly where the duels coming from, and if theres anyother symptoms whether its related directly to the prb or not.
it's the main hose that goes to the fuel regulator and the amount of fuel comes out in a big gush. it's coming from the bottom of the charcoal cannister from the outlet breather.
it's also a series 1 vn 1989.
found problem, apparently just needed a new fuel cap. thanks for all the help.
