Default Mounting aftermarket gauges in VN

Well, I'm in the process of installing a Water Temperature gauge and an Oil Pressure Gauge in my VN.

I'll be using a Double 2" mounting bracket, and wanted to know of some suggestions on where I should mount it.

That's where I'm currently planning on putting it.

    What do you guys think?

Not sure how well you will be able to see them there, but I would suggest either putting them under the radio, putting them under the middle airvents (like your idea but a bit easier to see), or put them on the side corner pillar next to the window

I was originally thinking, under the stereo, but I'd still like to be able to use that for storage...and for them under the middle airvents, maybe, but then the wire would be exposed..it'd look nasty.

I kinda picked there for easy wiring, and it should be pretty easy to see, I thought.

Mate of mine on his VS had them above the radio, and below the airvents.

I'll see if i can find a pic

Um, just take the middle lower trim piece off, and it'll all be hidden behind there

Hmm, that's not a bad idea.

What, and just bolt the mounting bracket on the plastic bits to whatever angle I want?

In my old car thats where I put the screen, and I just screwed the screen holder into the softer part of the dash, and sent the wires behind the screen and into the gap where the two pieces (top soft part, and bottom hard plastic part) join

Nah, don't use a bracket on the outside, recess them into the cover.

I was gonna do it on the hard plastic just above the stereo and use a bracket, now that you guys have veered me away from my orignal placing.

How would I recess them into that?

Maybe fix the bracket on the 'back' of the cover somehow, and just have the holes in the front.

Do you reckon there'd be enough room for them to sit flush on that very same plastic piece on a VN?

Alrighty then, so I'll just pull that bit out, run my wires, cut 2 2" holes, and then sit them in there.

Just use some superglue or araldite to stick them in, or what?

Mate said that they just held themselves in, just make sure you don't cut the holes too big. Might pay to buy another trim bit from pickapart or something, and **** around with the extra one.

Be a man and integrate it into the cluster, there is no point putting gauges where you cant see them. Also, its just gay having a row of gauges on your dash were everyone can see

The difference was, those 4 gauges were neccesary when you have a Turbo'd car Boost, pressure and temp are something you definately want to keep an eye on

i just screwed my Volt meter onto that door thing below the steering wheel, it can be easily seen, but a volt meter isnt really that important compared to water temp

Under there there like a tack on.

At least in the panel, there a factory type look, not just screwed in anywhere

Personally i have no need for gauges, my dash tels me everything i need it to. If i do need gauges, it'll only be a boost gauge, which i'll setup the same as my mate did.

Well, I decided that we'll just put it in that compartment under the radio.

So I'll get some metal later on, cut it to size, and then we'll start fitting it.

It'll be fun. Should have my first gauge in a few days.

Why do you need those gauges, can you not set it up for a particular boost and use the dual boost tap to run so you can still play a little? think about all the factory turbo cars they don't come out with boost gauges, well some do some don't, but once you've set it up why do you need the gauges, only thing thats gonna change is if a vacuum line falls off and you free boost which your gonna know about before looking at a gauge e.g car insanley fast all of a sudden...
