Hows it guys, wondering if anyone could advise me on the repairing of a vp digital odometer,I got a code 24 when doing a diagnostic check and my speed sensors fine because my speedo works it sounds to be the pulse divider from what i have read in these awesome forums.cheers
replace is a good choice. much easier.
..yes but im not sure on the whole deal.I beleive dismantling and examining is always a good start as this would be the process used when im at work...unfortunatley im a bike mechanic not a car mechanic. Is it the same if not similar to the mechanical/gear driven speedo i.e vn etc
I'm not famaliar with your odometer, or your vehicle.
Just using some guess work, you have a square wave coming in from your speed sensor. That will go to a piece of electronics that does what its got to do and outputs your read out on your gauge. Most likely its in behind the dash. If you can locate this unit you will be able to test for the incoming speed signal, some form of power supply and whatever I/O is associated with the unit. I would suggest you will need some documentation to assist your fault finding. If you can track one down, i'll be able to assist.
Peace.
cheers dude the thing is i knw its nt ***d as my odometer dont work my trip comp and cruise cntrl dosent either to get it wrking i have to turn the ign on or have the car running and remove #1 fuse on the internal fuse block wait 15-30secs and put it bak in now my trip comp and cruise cntrl etc will be displayed...i think this is caused by corrosion in the circuit somewhere causing resistance and taking the fuse out and putting it back in is causing a voltage spike large enough to jump tht resistance..all this was caused by the leak from the windscreen rubber as the factory dont use a sealant when the windsreens are put in,in the factory..i have fixed ths but i now have got ths nigtmare wiring/connection problem as the aftermath
i have also replaced my BCM thinking this was the problem
cheerz hjtrbo
My odometer is not working and I bought a new cog off ebay - sorry this isn't digital - and was wondering if anyone knows how to fit it
I have built this car from the ground up - it is one of the few VP SS with a HSV build number
The speedo in VN and VP are the same. Yep, out of the speed sender to cluster, divide the frequency by 5(?) then to the ECM.
Is this any use?:

To save you opening another thread, there's a 'How To' on this. It refers to VR-VS I think but apart from removing the cluster surround/switches (4 screws, 5 connectors for a base model) the method is the same.
