I don't, but to get that sort of power off a 304 block, i'd say apart from MASS head work, mass block work (all the good bits) along with a mint exhaust, fairly decent tune, you would be pretty much using forced induction.

You DO mean 300rwkw's off a 304 block don't you? You don't mean anyone that has dropped a Chev block in their car or anything?

If you want 300rwkw's off a 304 block, your gonna have to spend some decent cash. Heavy porting and polishing of the heads (or aftermarket heads), twin T/B manifold, pistons, conrods, 6 bolt mains to make sure it won't buckle under pressure, i mean the works!! That's only the tip of the pinhead compared to what else you would need to do probably ALONG with F/I.

**** man, you would be looking at $15k - $20k + depending on who you know. Not including car costs.

Get the block ripped apart, stroke it to 383ci with all the good bits, then strap a blower, single or twin turbo kit on it, then have it tuned to the tee with a DECENT custom air intake set up to match a twin T/B manifold or a REALLY GOOD aftermarket manifold.

Can't say for sure EXACTLY how much it would cost, never done it myself, but i'm guessing well over $15k to do it right. A 300rwkw Vn SS is no slouch.

300rwkw in a NA motor will be a 355. i think some of the 10 second cars running twin throttle 255s only make 280rwkw or something. 300 you would need some kind of centrifugal blower, but that doesnt mean youre going to go fast. twin turbo or whipple blower are good options

I didn't think most 5.7 stroker kits could manage to pull 300rwkw on a 304 block??

i know a guy who's built a 700hp VN SS drag car using a 304 built to group a standard and above with the group a twin throttle body and running nos. even without the nos he's still at 550hp. and he doesn't have forced induction in any way

You can supercharge the bastard properly for around $6-7000, and pull in the vacinity of 250rwkw

You can also make similar power with a good manifold, cam, valvetrain, head work, upped compression etc for similar money.

I'd personally go the manifold/exhaust/cam route, and have a ballsy motor that can breathe really easily

Stock is around 130??? at the wheels, so yes, 200 at the wheels is ballsy

200rwkw is roughly 250???fwkw which is 330-340fwhp? And 340 horsepower is not to be scoffed at from a motor that is 20yrs old, in a car as light as a VN

The way I see it - if you're planning to spend big, and you're planning to open the motor up for a recon, why not stroke it?

The very good 355s running a solid cam, the harrop single plane, or group A and very good heads will make between 280 and 300 rwkw. Some have gone over 300 but you are basically left with a race motor in a street car at that stage. Even 200 rwkw in a VN is a very fast street car. Sub 5 seconds to 100 and a high 12 1/4 mile and the potential to smoke a pair of tyres from standing start to 100 no problem

Ahh i see!! So a decent stroker kit in conjunction with a good solid cam and manifold has the potential to break 300?

Yeh a mate of mine has a 355 stroker in a VK - VT block, high (11:1) comp I think? running avgas. Heaps of head work, torque power single plane manifold, BIG solid cam (runs a 5200rpm stall converter ), custom 4-1 pipes with huge primaries.

making right around the 300rwkw mark, backed up by a 10.90 pass

STOWLN ran a 10.8 with slicks and dropped pipes, making around 280-290rwkw.
COME 355 crank and rods, 12:1 static comp with forgies, ported heads crane 288 solid stick, GRP A manifold and difillipo 4-into-1's. Runs a trimatic with a 4200rpm stall and 3.7:1 rear.
