Not sure if this belongs here or elsewhere.. I've just taken delivery of my grandmother's 1990 VN exec time capsule(it still has new-car-smell). I'm fairly new to working on commodores, not yet familiar with wiring etc.. so, my basic question is: Was there a single "level" of wiring harness for the vn exec, or did they alter the harness depending on what options were marked off? ie: is there a harness for an exec fitted with only the front speakers, thus not having the fittings/wiring for rear speakers? Apologies if this has been covered before.
Anton
Exec have pretty much all the wiring there except for optional extras like power mirros windows central locking and the like.
I suppose there's 3 level's of harness' your Exec (level 1) berlina( level 2 usually have power windos + mirrors possibly cruise control) and calais (level 3) which has almost everything (fog light loom possibly not)
Thats just a guide really as it depends on the car but your better off going a calais loom if you want everything. You can wire in extras easy enough if you know your way around a diagram and soldering iron

Probably no rear speaker wires - wasn't any on my wagon

My sedan doesnt have rear speakers.. the wiring is there on the plug that goes into the factory headunit, but as to whether it terminates at the rear shelf.. will find out in an hour when i pull the back shelf out![]()
VN execs don't have rear speakers. The wiring for them stops at the main plug behind the drivers kick panel. You will have to run new wires from the CD player/Radio to the new rear speakers.
..well i guess there's no point me taking the rear shelf out now then![]()
