Hey Guys,
I was just on my way home from work when i noticed my temperature shooting up (after i've just gotten used to not checking it constatly after getting a new radiator).
I pulled over and "lo and behold" my upper radiator hose has blown...
Now i patched it up with some gaffer and limped home, but i need my car to drive to work tomorrow. Does anyone know where i can get a radiator hose in Sydney at this time of night? Does anyone have one and feel nice?
Any help is appreciated.
(BTW: It's a VP Lexcen/Commodore)

You can actually repair a cracked/leaking hose with a plastic shopping bag and gaffer.
1. Tear off a decent length of gaffer tape(the type with the thread is best) - a good 15cm or so. Get someone to hold the end or stick on end to the front edge of the bonnet.
2. Fold the plastic bag length-ways so it's around 7-8cm wide.
3. Wrap tightly around the cracked hose, with the crack as close to the centre of the folded bag as possible.
4. Keep the plastic bag tightly wrapped around the house. Grab the pre-cut tape, and start tightly winding it from one end of the plastic bag to the other. Be sure to start half on the hose and half on the bag, and half-overlap as you go along.
The plastic bag will prevent any water seepage, and the gaffer gives it the strength to withstand the pressure.
I've used this a few times when i've been several hours away from the nearest spare parts store, has never failed me once. I realise it probably isnt useful now, but even with just those two items it can get you out of a world of pain in the future.![]()
Leave the radiator cap cracked so the system dosnt build uppressure and take a steady drive to the nearest shop. Take water with you aswell
Thanks for the help guys. I ended up telling work i'll be doing a half day today and going to repco this morning.
