    Default Fan/Wiring Problem

Hey i have a commodore VP exec series II, my fan is having dramas, for the last week i've had the fan light come on while driving and had to pull over to check it (it was working) then just this morning it wasn't, i pulled the fan relay towards the front of the car and the fan started for a bit, and stopped once i released it, i did this a few times, same thing happened, i left the car for a while, came back, Fan not working at all , i am assuming it's wiring, because i've tested the actual fan and it works fine, should do too, i got a brand new one not long ago, is there any way i might be able to make a new relay, new wiring, that turns on when i switch on the ignition?
or can someone send me a Wiring diagram? Or if anyone thinks it's something else, help would be appreciated

unbolt the relay box and make sure the relay is getting a propper connection to the plug it sits in. If you have a multimeter, make sure you have good connections at all points. If the wiring checks out, the relay is probably dead, so go grab a new one.

relay is fine, bought it today... but it doesn't seem like it's... Switching??? like, i know one of the left terminal is to the battery, front terminal is output to fan, and the other two are somehow used to control wheter the fan is operational or not... it doesn't seem like it's switching on... thats my outlook on whats happening

We're not meant to link to other posts within the forum but it may be difficult to find, depending on what search terms you use. Try immortality's 'How To' on wiring up a fan bypass switch. that should go a long way to explaining how the VP fan works.

Sounds like dodgy terminals beneath the relay, if it was working when you fiddled with it. Just to be sure, it could be worth shorting the fan accross the battery to see if it spins up under 12v. But I'm suggesting a rusted terminal of bodgy wire somewhere in the relay box

thanks for the diagram... but i still don't know where all of these parts are, i want to re-run a wire, can anyone tell me where the other end of the pink/white wire goes to, all i know is it starts at the fan relay follows the harness to the instrument panel, where it doesn't look like it connects to anything. if it does i would like to know, i just don't wanna pull apart any more at the moment, if i do i think i might break something, or forget something....

    try this for info http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...-new-post.html

because it was working when you manipulated the relay (pushed it around) it suggests a bad connection. if it shorted out whilst you did this it may have popped the fuse so check those also
