I was actually just wondering what everyone's fuel economy is on the their VN's.
The last time I figured it out was last night, and I got 11.8L/100km.
It had 396km on the odometer last night when I figured it out, and about 350km of that was all highway driving with a trailer and 2 motorbikes between Sydney and Zig Zag Railway (Up past Katoomba, on the way to Oberon), and was wondering if that could be right.
I thought the VN's usually get around 12L/100km on the highway without a load, and we got 11.8.
I'm just slightly confused.
my vp gets about 600km to a tank.
Which is?
Because mine doesn't seem to like it very much once it drop belows a quarter, so we never can empty the tank.
An auto VN V6 should get around 8L/100km on the highway, and around 11L/100km around town. Obviously when you add a trailer/bikes/etc to that mix the consumption is going to go up significantly.
I get about 400 to 450 around town in my ute and 600 on the highway
The economy varies WILDLY on these cars now that they're getting on to their 20th birthdays. So many things can effect it![]()

My average is around 12-12.5 but on hways she gets down in the high 9's low 10's just depends on how heavy ur foot is.
Well, we were fairly heavy on the gas.
It depends how heavy the load is, and how fast you drive too. Your trailer would have been fairly light, so only added a couple of l/100 to your average. I towed around 1600kg (+200kg onboard) from Brisbane to Melbourne on a twin-axle 6x8 cage, and on the stretch from Sydney-Melbourne averaged 23l/100km out of my VQ which usually manages 9-10l/100 on the freeway.

Gees Morton you were really feeding the big VQ some juicethat would have been an ideal time for a couple of bottles of jector cleaner:;p
I get about 10Damn thing guzzles like an 8.
I'd keep track of mine but my odometer (and hence trip meter) is borked. And it would probably be too depressing...

Hmm. So it's about average I guess then.
Because a few months back, we'd be getting like 16L/100km. Didn't figure out what was wrong with it.
VN sedan, 500,000++++kms, auto, V6, exhaust CAI memcal
I can get 9.0L/100km in the hills pretty easily.. under 10 is doable even with heaps of suburban traffic mixed in.
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
I got a VP so it might not count.. but my trip computer says 10.6L/100km average... and it seems about right. Anything under 15L/100km is good to me cos my last car was a cordia turbo and b4 that was a thirsty ass 202efi VK.

Ahhh gold 'ole 202s. Same fuel comsumption as a blown V8, with a third of the power![]()

Replace your O2 sensor and make sure your throttle body is clean, get some carby cleaner and spray it on a rag and put your hand inside the throttle body and clean around and on butterfly as well. Also a good air filter doesnt go astray.
All these are cheap options.
cheers for that, shall try it and see how it go's. also replacing fuel filter
