Just went to repco to get a complete set of wheel bearings and was told have buy complete hub set up as they dont sell bearings by themselves, workshop manual says you can change just bearings and done plenty of em in other cars with no dramas ,where they confused, tryin ta rip me off O r am I just stupit ?![]()
maybe they were thinking of another model commodore? such as vr vs etc as they have the hub and bearing as one.
(VR/VS hub)
(VN/VP bearing)
go back and speak to someone else or try another repco.

Go to your local SKF bearing shop (or any bearing shop for that matter) and ask for some front wheel bearings to suit a VN. Should cost about $30 for the set and in most cases will be a ton cheaper than Repco or similar.

IF I go there again Ill ask tha boss, lol
I think the last set I bought the full retail price was $41 per wheel
i might be wrong... but you get what you pay for normally. paying a few extra bucks now to buy quality may save you more $ - and grief - in the long run. i used to clean mine out (flushed them out with solvent and then dried then thoroughly and then repacked them with bearing grease) every 10kkm or so. cheers
I assume you mean 10,000km but wow! I can't see any reason to do them that often unless you live in the outback and are driving thru mud/dust every day. The bearings I got were exactly the same as those available thru repco and the like and complied with all relevant australian standards. So far so good.

bearings are more complicated than the average joe knows *sighs bloody timken lectures*
some of timkens bearings can do in excess of 6 million revolutions its all about how you preload them and the greese you use and keeping them maintained
