Unhappy vp wiper switch hazzard light problem

Ok now i fix mates cars alot and at the moment i'm helping a mate get a vp exec sereis II on the road for his first car.
Now on the rwc list it said lose/broken wiper switch/driving light swith.

My weak spot is anything auto-electrical. But i thought i'd pull the switches out and then pull them apart to see whats broken. the plastic thread had broken on both buttons on the inside.

So off to the wreckers to get some replacements.
Got the 2 swithes and put in the light switch no worries, worked fine.
So in with the wiper switch, but as soon as it was connected the hazzard lights started flashing. pressing the hazzard button didn't turn them off. they would only turn off if i disconnected the battery or waited for the interior light to turn off. the demister came on and off when pressing the button.

So here i'm thinking the the replacement one was faulty, so i unplugged the replacement and plugged the old one back in. presto they turn on and off at the button. so now i pulled the replacement one apart so i could use the good bits for the old one. after fixing the old one i put it back in. And now there doing what they did before

Do i need to reset something or is there something im missing

Theres about 5 different types of switchblocks.

You'll need the exact one he had before, unless you can rewire the one you got from the wrecker. Although i'm not even sure if thats possible.

If that is so then why does the driving switch i put in (calais, cruise control) work? cos it's got alot of extra buttons but still works the same.

And why does the old one do the same as the replacement, plus the replacment was out of a executive.

Theres only 2 types of headlight switch, which is why it was probably the same as the one you needed.

The extra buttons are for a power aerial, so they wont effect anything other than that (nothing else goes in those spots, either power antenna, or nothing.

The problem you have, is the different types. Mine has Hazards, demister, dome light. The one you've got will probably have them the other way around.

the one i have has hazzard top/demister middle/dome light bottom/wiper switch very bottom.

I'm not the biggest commo expert out thats why im here.
The thing that gets me is they both look the same, there both out of an executive.
Plus it's mainly the fact that i fixed the original one from the car buy using the good bit's out of the replacement wiper button one from the wreckers. And now the Original one is doing it (flashing hazzards).when all i did was use the little spring, the long plastic bit for the squirter and the threaded part that hold it on tight.
so i didn't touch any of the plugs. there sholud be no reason why the old one shouldn't work. cos all that was wrong with it was the lose/broken button.

so at the end of the day it should work. the old switches (which were working before being unhooked) were untouched , it was just the button that was fixed. thats why i wanna know if there's anything else i have missed. just don;t wanna spend 100 bucks a pop to try other types when really i should have what i need to get it to work.

the original one was working, just to pass rwc cert they wanted the lose wiper button attended to. so i bought a replacement but that had the hazzards constantly flashing when i connected it. so it got pulled apart to fix the original so i could re-fitt it but now is having the same problem (can't turn hazzards off).

Oh spuin. Try ebay, there still cheaper.

Either way, not sure why they don't work. The hazards coming on happened to me when i used a VN switchblock in a VP by accident.

    Default still no luck

well i tryed to have another 10 goes at it but no change no matter what i did.
But now i'm pretty sure that it's not the switches and infact might be the sercurity system.

Because when the car is off the switches work fine. hazzards turn on and off same for the demister and dome light.

So the hazzards only constantly flash when the ign is on or when the car is on.when the car is turned off they turn off about a minute or so later.

But there is a problem with my theroy , which is that the sercurity system has been turned off with the little key. so i'm not sure if that has made a difference.
Also i dissconnected the battery before playing with the electric so i know i have the put the radio code in to get it to work. now with that said will that be the hazzards problem or is there another code i might have to put in to stop the hazzard lights??

    Doors will fit fine!

Only time you run into problems is if your interchanging rear sedan doors with rear wagon doors.
