Hello everyone
Quick question. Is there any chance a steering wheel from a VS Statesman/Calais would go onto a VQ? Would I be able to use it with the airbag unplugged?
I am after options for my VQ and would like to be able to use the factory buttons with a cat box
Thanks in advance

They should workI can't see them being any different! They should slide into the same spline, and tighten up with the same big nut.
But you know, with airbags, it could be different. I hope notCan you take a look at a VS + airbag steering column to compare?

I have a non airbag VR steering wheel on the 89 VN

and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
Yeah, I know the non-airbag ones work perfectly. I'm curious whether people say "don't use the airbag ones" simply because they have airbags, or because the actual column thread is different![]()

wouldn't there still be a huge gap between the column shroud and the back of the stering wheel. That is how the VR/VS wheel fits up to VN-VP columns. looks crap
i thought vs onwards couldn't fit cos the splines were differant, im after the 4 spoke non airbag vr one

Its after VS that doesn't fit. So VT onwards. VN-VS fits. VR/VS just leaves a slight gap which seems to be dependant on the individual car. There seem to issues with the splines in VN/VP that they slightly differ. I have had issues with boss kits that fit one VN perfect and leave a gap on another and vice versa so it will be the same story with a VR/VS wheel. Some will have larger gaps than others.
would changing to a vr/s steering column cover fix the gaps?

just remember that these splines and shafts will all be cut on a machine. As the cutting heads wear and are replaced the actual dimensions will vary from one to another.
So if you have one that does not sit right it may be worth trying another incase.
