been trying in and out and that wont go in?? is there a way or a something to put it in there ive tryed about everything!!! thats the only one that doesnt go inhelp mee
auto or manual?
If auto i'd say the the 2 notches on the torque convertor aren't lined up properly
If manual i'd say it hasnt lined up correctly try moving the rear of the box over slightly. If its an auto this might help out aswell.
It's hard to tell from looking at the picture and tell what the go is. If your ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE everything is lined up correctly use the bolts on that side to help even it out and pull it flush with the block

ok i figured that part out.. damn it was annoying now upto the engine mount parts..! and tips on putting them on without killing myself?![]()
Yeah, all you had to do was lift the back of the motor up to come into line with the transmission. Then it would all slide in.
The best way to do engine mounts, is one side at a time. Support the engine by the sump, with a large, wide slab of wood. Use a GOOD jack, with a LARGE head. A big garage jack or something similarly stable. Then use it to raise the motor and to the mounts one side at a time. You can safely get away with raising the engine... it looks like a V6 from that angle, so roughly 10cm. On a V8 you have to worry about coil and dizzy clearances at the firewall.
I did both engine mounts in my VQ in about 45min.![]()

thanks for your replys guys.. i ended up going outside and figuring everything on my ownthanks for your replys anyway it would of been useful if i hadnt of figured it out!
by the way its a vr motor bolted onto a vn transmission allmost finished putting it all back together it got dark n mozzi's are everywhere

and and about the engine mounts i ended up taking the passenger side off too.. removed the aircon gonna get a shorter beltall aircon cra p was removed b4 anyways
![]()
way to go with the no aircon much easier doing stuff without it there. So what ended up being the issue?
When i built a motor for my mate it took us longer to fit the y pipe than to remove and install new motor. have fun with that part![]()

vr manifold and series 1 vn are VERY different.
if your old manifolds look like cheap crappy extractors then you will need another y piece.
It's not like you need aircon down here in Vic during summer anyway. Hell, it was... what, 19 today? Gawd.

centy i dont need no Y piece... im using my vns one+ i dont think the vr oxygen sensor is the same as the vn onee.. but now i got most of the stuff on its all matching up good!! just some problems with the ecu loom.. =[
and about the aircon.. i never regased it since i brought it haha =]
haha, i had that very same problem with my vnspent a couple of hours just trying to force the right side of the y piece past the steering rack and bellhousing, until i decided to give in and take the tailshaft and gearbox crossmembers back off...jacked up the back of the box and the pipe just slid straight in. dont know why i didnt just do that in the first place
first time ever doing an engine swap...gotta say i learnt a lesson that day
i dont get why its so hard.. mine bolted up fine it was easy![]()
It's quite a bit harder when you got an abs module in the way. Also we did try it the hard way eventually we just undid engine mounts and pulled the motor up some more. Tom had also cut the bolts off as he couldnt get them undone. so they were drilled out and new bolts put through it was quite diffcult trying to stop it turning whilst you did the nut up
