Hey all,
Im changing the Torque Converter on my wifes VP V6 and i was wondering is there a certan way for the gearbox to be lined up to the torque converter?
Or can i just put the box to the motor and bolt it up and should be fine?
Cheers VNCPTR
what u have to first of is make SURE u install a new front pump seal , and make sure the seal retainer is put back on...
( poorly designed front pump section, the retainer is there to stop the front seal popping out..but this can be fixed , by removing front pump assemble and drilling out the hole behind the seal bigger....)
anyways , as you slowly start to put the torque converter in , spin it around by hand , either clock wise or anti clock wise, until it goes all the way in , it KINDA clicks in 3 lots ??? you will know u got it all the way in when the locating bit in the middle of the converter is flush with the face of the trans , where it bolts agains the motor.....
as said above with the converter off of the motor line up the dowls on the noise of the converter to the oil pump inside the trans untill its conpletely in
fairly common for people to miss this n try pulling the box against the motor with the bolts which smashes the front of the pump in
and that would just answer why after having a engine fitted by Veale the pump seal went very soon after![]()
