yeah you could lengthen them wouldn't be an issue check they all work afterwards. Or you could get a s2 loom

i made the wires longer and all but i was wondering which one goes in the block and alternator.. its like i have one extra plug???

edit: just to make it clear.. the loom thats attached to the motor is the vr one that came with the motor.. and i have series 1 ecu loom it was allready attached to the car

so the blue and the black is from the vn s1
    brown from the vr s2

brown and black are alternator...... on the vn's they had the alternator plug on the loom that goes into the dash and on the vr's they had it on the loom that goes on the engine....

weird! and as jason said blue is the coolant temp sensor, i had to lengthen the 2 coolant temp sensors (dash and ecu) to the front of the block aswell...

pretty much from my experience you need the vn loom on the vr engine aswell instead of the vr loom..
i would tell you how my engine is going but im having other elecrical problems not related to the engine (hate it when previous owners stuff around with **** then when i go to fix something i have no idea )
