Default I need some serious help. VN V6

    Alright.

This is gonna be a long thread. I still haven't fixed my other problems, but I'll start with the ones I've got now.

Currently, whenever I start my car, it'll rev straight up to 2000 and just stay there.

checked fault codes? sounds like the IAC isn't working or you have a major vacuum leak somewhere

Engine light was on before, I checked it yesterday, and it was a Code 22, TPS voltage low, still same as today.

I just plugged in the laptop to get the codes with the same thing. After having it running with the laptop plugged in, it dropped it's revs to normal after about 10 seconds, but the engine light is still on

I replaced the TPS yesterday with the other VN we've got sitting out the front, and that's what caused the light...but I was just wondering, could I have put it on wrong..considering I did it with the T/B still on the car? Does TPS need to be tensioned up at all?

I know. But you can only turn it one way, without using absolutely brutal force.

But what I'm saying is, I got the other TPS, plugged it in freely, hooked up the laptop with WinALDL to show the throttle position reading, and then turned the sensor with pliers. It only started to show a reading when I had turned the sensor a little, and when I let it go again, it would return back to -13.3%.

So what I'm asking is, do I need to have the sensor slightly tensioned up before I bolt it on?

yep, normally you fit it on the butterfly shaft and then turn it slightly untill the 2 holes line up with the mounts on the TB

Did you reset it after you fitted it? Disconnect the battery for 10 seconds, start the car and rev it to 2000rpm for 10 seconds, turn car off. See what happens after you start the car again.
