Is it as simple as removing the rack boots, and then unscrewing the rack ends from the rack? My workshop manual has nothing on this![]()

Should be the same as VN rack ends. They just unscrew, right?
Does anyone know if a manual rack contains fluid, or grease?

Ahhh yes. I need to invest in an old Gregories at sometime. I've heard they contain a lot of info that Haynes missed out on.

haha, cheers for the help guys. Jayme, you're a champ. That pdf gave away the key - bending back the tab washers. Thankyou so much
Rack is now apart! Victory is mine! Now I can order new rack ends and tie rod endsMay aswell get new boots too, so it's all shiny. Thankyou
Oh, and the rack and pinion are just lathered in bearing greaseThis thing is going to be too easy to mantain. I'm so glad I bought it!!

Cheers mate, I've just got to take the intermediate shaft to a steering/drivetrain joint to see if someone is willing to change over the uni joints for me. Once I get that done, I can order my parts off ebay, stick all my shiny brand new parts on the rack, and whack it all in the car.
Can I go out on a limb here and say that changing lower ball joints isn't something you want to do at home?
