hi, guys, got this vn v6 on gas for 3.5 years. lot of water under the bridge in the begining. it has been good for about two years. parts and labour more than 3000 spent. this week found sort of lost power when going uphill. today it is a nightmare, when I put it on gas it chokes all the time, and continously got back fire, one after another. I got diagnosis from Holden 2 years ago, said the gas and petrol goes to the engine at the same time. the gasman change the samll switch which witch from gas to petrol, and then fixed it. it is a sprint system, and the gas converter is three years old, an italy brand, I tried to adjust the mix button, doesn't work. the car got 212000k, still goes well before this. any advice is appreciated. Many thanks.
to be honest, it sounds like you just need to change your plugs/leads. remember that gas needs a really good spark to ignite. my old vn did the same thing, drove ok but up a hill it was missing like crazy. not sure about the petrol and gas going to the engine at the same time... don't think it would run at all like that. first try plugs and leads and see how that goes
plugs and leads like already said.
when i got the system tested here he checked to make sure the injectors turned off when the gas was on and that if it stalled the gas stopped. also after a stall restart and check that gas does not start straight up.
your would be similar.
yes, it is missing madly on gas, but it does not miss on petrol, I can manage to drive it on petrol, just it is choking from 20to 40km/h when going uphill, after that it is fine, could that be a fuel pump?also today I found several cracks in a tiny rubber tube on top of the fuel tank, it is not the one close to the fuel pump, but the one in the rear of the tank, has this something to do with the gas?
