Does anybody know how to test these?
tryed looking in my gregorys but couldnt find it :S
thanks fellas
You can test them by doing a resistance measurement, dont know the reading but I know it can be done.
Normally when their on the way out the orange engine light will come on when the car is at running temp.
well...my car has a bit of a rough idol and a laggy take off sometimes......and im all out of ideas...i read that some people are having the same symptoms as me with faulty O2 sensors..but i havent had any warning lights..
my coils are fine..
my dfi module is fine..
replaced leads...
replaced sparkies...
replaced injectors...
Put a BMC air filter...
Cold air intake....
i know the crankshaft pulley needs replacing....would that be a factor??
and sometimes i get this waft of petrol in the cabin through the air vents..
any ideas??
Well then it should be all good.
If your concerned, just check the ECU for codes.
Checking your Computer for Faults (VN - VP)
ahk sweet as pie...
well does anybody know what could be causing this problem i have??
waits AIC?
sorry...still learning..
IAC?
Idle Air Control
It's the little valve at the back of the throttle body that is computer controlled to allow the amount of air going into the motor whilst idling.
This could be sticking, or the plug might be lose.
Have a check of that, and also check the error codes and tell us if that lists anything.
ah ill check it out in the morning with a bit of light....how do i check the error codes?? dont i need like that gadget that plugs into the ECU?
sorry i mustnt have read it properly..
checked that sensor...all seems well...cleaned the plug out and stuff...
didnt fix the problem though...
also i noticed that my injectors can be rotated...is this a problem? because i remember at one stage that they couldnt be rotated....then i had them looked at...and now they can....
yeh earlier this morning...but nothing came up...code 12....which is nothing yeh?
well the engine light is a bit of a mystery as it should be coming on if the O2 sensor has died, but all the other symptoms point to that as your problem. Waft of petrol smell is more than likely the engine overfueling and pushing raw fuel into the exhaust. Does the car blow any black smoke and cough and splutter a bit while going up hills or under hardish acceleration?
I'd Say take the Iac (even the whole TB) out and clean it. Put it back in reset it by disconnecting battery for a bit then reconnect start car and rev to 3000rpm for 30 secs.
Failing that You said the harmonic balancer neeeds replacing that could be an contributing factor
