hey guys i popsted up a question a lil while back but no one replied. ah well. its was can u use a v6 manual box on a v8 as my friend has a vn wagon as show in pictures and currently has a v6 manual behind it and he is putting in a v8 but he still wants to use the manual box still. anyways enjoythe pics. let me know wot ya think. jpg[/IMG]

hey mate, i dont think u cn have a v6 5spd gearbox connected to a v8 mainly because the v8 gearboxes have to be stronger to support more power, but thats just my assumption

No, they also have different ratios. I think i have heard of them being used, but you would need new bell housing and different tailshafts(i think) and the input shaft would have to have somthing done to it too.

Yeah not really worth the hassle sell all the v6 manual stuff and youd have almost enough to buy a V8 t5.

yeah thanx guys for the replies i thought the same thing he didnt really want to get rid of the motor and box out of the 6 coz he just spent big money rebuilding it about 12 months ago anyways he had been quoted $2500 for a 8 manual gearbox which isnt to bad or he was goin to go auto but it would be $4000 to rebuid the auto thats on the 8 now and shift kit and a high stall so he thought he was better stickin with the manual. are well should be a nice car in the end anyways

well he brought the car for $3500 4 years ago from a car yard
wheels $1500

stereo $2000
interior is sv 90 very comfy $500
sv front bar $300
body work did all himself looks very nice considering he only just statred his 1st yaear apprenticship at the time paint cost him $1500
suspension $500 sssl all round monroe shortened gas shocks
engine rebuild twice as they ****ed it the first time as well as the gear box and they also strengthened it (so they said) $2500
tachos (monster, oil, water, temp) $400
vr acclaim tail lights $120
ok sorry so thats $13,220 are well its been a fun project anyhow he also has a ricer evreyday car that owes him a woping $2000 thats including purchase price

yeah i know he spent alot of his time and money and effort over the last 4 years it looks gr8 in person. the pics really dont do it any justice. it will be at the all holden day anyways next year it was there last year too but he came 3rd place in his division the judges told him that if it had a neat engine bay and atleast a standard 8 it would stand out alot more to the judges but i dont think it will have the 8 in it this year after all its only 6 weeks away. any of you guys goin there? can any body get entry forms as i want to enter my vs in?
