Depending on what model your VN is, The boot release is either button operated or handle operated.
If you after the button in the glove box type, the wiring is already there. Get some needle nosed pliers and through one of the holes near the switch, grab the orange and black wires that are visable. Then connect the two wires to a factory switch (black) (You'll need to get one of these from a wrecker or something)

Now open the boot, and near the petrol filler, on the inside sould be a length of black wire with a red stripe. This is threaded into the boot lid and connected to a solinoid. (You'll need one of those too)

Now the boot will open by button in glove box, an if you have an aftermarket alarm, you can also wire it up to open off your remote.

    Hope this helps you out.

I just got one from a VR/VS that goes beside the seat and installed that, was pretty easy now my boot fly's open!

I think its better then the button cause i dont have to lean over to open the boot

Thats a real good idea, or maybe just add another button on the driver's side somewhere so you got 2

I got no idea but is it fused? Could not have a fuse in it? Also go over it with a multimeter and check continuity.

If not try running your own temp wires and see if that work's, if that dose and it was me i would just run my own.
