Hey guys I bought a CAI for the ss, this one exactly: HOLDEN COLD AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM VN VP VR VS V8 NEW - eBay, Air Intake, Fuel Delivery, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 14-Jan-09 11:45:52 AEDST) my question is the piece that connects to the airbox doesnt fit snug do I have to cut/butch the airbox to make it fit properly?
Cheers
yep you have to trim the standard airbox - not difficult to do - take ur time to make it a snug fit - youll need a hacksaw blade to do it. u may need a heat gun for th ebit on top of the radiator to help with clearance mine needed to be softened up when i closed the bonnet
Cheers mate, yeah all done. Though in the proccess blew up my misses hairdryer lol she aint a happy camper...
HAHAHHAHAHAAHA thats gold - bugga the hair dryer lol - car goes quicker
LOL, i'm in the process of doing a home made CAI for my VY. I didn't use a hair dryer though, i used a hot air paint stripper. Hairdryers dont push out as much concentrated heat!![]()

Does it really make much of a difference? I was going to purchase the same one but someone told me they don't work that good, what's your opinion?
For an SS you should notice a fairly big difference. Even in the newer cars you notice more power available when you need it! The stock air intakes are just too restrictive! Or stupid, or draw in too much warm air
lol i wonder just how many hair dryers have been lost to car modifications. my brothers wrecked my mums when he was taking strips off his vk.
on topic though, i was going to use the heatgun and bash the corner of my cai down, instead i opted to cut that part of it out. just another way of doing it.![]()
My heat gun has had a good workout over the last few yearsWell worthwhile investment.
Heaven forbid anyone tries to blowdry their hair with it.
