Hi, I have recently managed to get the ignition barrel out of my VN and bought a new one.
However, I am unable to install the new one because the steering wheel lock is in the way so I cannot slide the new barrel all the way in. Not sure how to hold steering lock down, out of the way to slide the new barrel in.
Read many forums on how to remove the barrel but none seem to answer how to install a new one.
Not sure if it makes a difference but I forgot about the steering lock and tried to drive the car to locksmith after I had taken the barrel out and the steering lock went on, used a screwdriver to take it off again. Maybe installing a barrel is an easy job and somehow I stuffed up the steering lock or something.
Any help would be much appreciated and if needed I can post some pics
Thanks, Marcus
anyone? Can post pics if it helps
ok all you do is use a screw driver an push down the steering lock its the only thing in there that will slide down an make ensure it stays down,, if not a small amount of vasaline will help, an also check the back of the ignition, to make ensure they are the same if not it will be a tail peice that you cut off, not the tail it self tho, one thats off to one side,,,
from there if all is good an the steering lock is still down, push the barrel in with the key in the accesories position an it should slide in easy,, if you need pics i can arrange some,, as im about to replace mine again to,,
