    Default Diy cai

I've been suggested to get a CAI box and stuff like that and so I was wondering if I should make my own box and enclosure.

Is it worth having a go at making one out of aluminium even though it may get hot?

And if all else fails should i just buy a CAI and fit that. Seeing as my engine bay has no box, it couldnt hurt to try... could it?

Ok ive read all the posts from the list above.

If my pod is enclosed, will it still work to potential? Cause i read along there it had to be out in the open... or somthing like that.

I'm thinking make a box and have a pipe running down like someone else had done?

Cheapest damn way to do it, and it will work twice as well as any expensive CAI, I guarantee it. Mine cost me $20 all up

Dash darn straight. That's the best way to do it

And if you're wondering where the other end of that pipe goes:

Just ignore the big red text. This picture was taken to demonstrate something else

Your pod will work better enclosed, with a nice big pipe sticking out, grabbing cold air from anywhere but the engine bay. Anyone who tells you a VP V6 or V8 needs an exposed pod to work at max potential, is either a liar or a fool.

you should be able to just grab the top section of a VS supercharged cold air intake from holden. shouldnt be too expensive. they were tested as one of the better flowing intakes. still not convinced on bumper mounted intakes

From the bumper FTW, but I must say that not all cars make it easy to mount one.

Yeah bumper is the best, remember lower to the ground has more dense air which is what you want, just gotta watchout for water.

My old piping, very similair to mortons since I basically copied his design (thanks man) on my VN, if it rained i could tuck the pipe inside the front bar so nothing could go in it, then unfold it. My pipe went under the front bar of my the VN since I had less room that other pics I saw. Setup cost me 0$ as I had gear lying around and you can be real inventive, just be careful of water

i fitted a super6 CAI on the missus VS and noticed shit all increase in anything. i think i'm gonna have to either mod it with the heatgun or jigsaw to get it to work. not happy with it at all really. it was a lot more expensive here in NZ too

I'm hoping for slightly better economy. Lil more performance would be nice.

Just got home from a drive from penrith just now. Get home, open the bonnet, and the intake pipe is how you say... Quite hot. Hot enough to pull my hand away fast.

It's good And you REALLY don't have to be paranoid about water. Really. Just have a small hole at the lowest point of the pipe, and it will sort itself out.

Unless you're fording a river, and using the front bumper to create a bow wave, you'll be fine. I drove my VP around Brisbane during their wettest summer, through torrents of water and lightly flooded roads. One or two parts looked much too deep, and all I had to do was pop the bonnet and unclip the airbox - takes two seconds.

    Haha will do.

I noticed with this SAAS pod which was on another car at the time, when the car was revved out to limiter the pod like, screamed lol. My K&N one never did this.

Ive already noticed that the car is a tad faster and this pod is pretty loud at say, 5700 rpm

I bought about 20m of it Cost about $20. It was their last roll, and it was on special A friend of mine used the rest of it to make tunnels for her ferrets.
