Hey guys,
I just had keyless central locking installed and its got the option for boot release, so i ran a cable into the tailgate and hooked it all up to the computer incase i ever want to use it.
Im just wondering what your thoughts are on putting the solenoid into the tailgate are? There is no way that the tailgate will pop itself open even the slightest, so id imagine when you try and open it with the remote you'd have to instantly pull the tailgate...
Has anybody installed one in a wagon? if so howd they make it pop up? i was thinking of welding a spring to the tailgate, but thats pretty dodge-tastic if you ask me... lol
My VS wagon has central locking from the factory and when you press the unlock button it just releases the lock on the tail gate so that the button can be used without the key to open it but it doesn't open by itself.
If the central locking is on/locked then you can use the key to enter the tailgate but without the key turning the central locking off the tailgate remains locked.

This might be a bit of an ask, But would you be able to take a picture of how the solenoid is connected into the tailgate? The way you are describing it sounds pretty good to me.
I just feared that it would try to physically open the lock and pop the tailgate. But if i can get it to simply lock/unlock the tailgate that would be the best! (Since my key doesnt lock / unlock the tailgate anymore)
bumpity bump?
