Would a stock VN Manual driven correctly beat a stock auto VN? And also if they had equal mod's such as extractors C.A.I ect would it make a difference/advantage one over the other.
My mate drives an Auto AU and heard from someone that the VN auto's are faster but I think otherwise.
Both 8's or both 6's either way whether that would make a difference either
i would say manual would be faster if the person know how to drive it properly
The printed times at the time of release, stated that the auto was faster - but I'd suggest a good manual driver would have it all over the auto equivalent.
1) the manual car has more power at the wheels
2) the manual car is lighter

if both stock def manual. as you have so much more control.
and it also depends what sort of race your talking about.
ive had my manual v6 over 220 km/h
so in a straight line. it would be close.
but around a track manual would flog. also you have to take into account. if the auto is roughly 20 years ago it would no longer change the way they did when they were new.
It also depends how you're treating the manual box. If you ride the clutch like a cowboy off the line and flatshift 1-2, then it's going to go a lot faster than if you're looking after your clutch and synchros. Flatshifting a T5 will see it being pulled out for a rebuild within weeks![]()

Manual, no doubt. I own one, i'll only drive a manual. Its a no contest
A bit of determination and a want for the highest standards doesn't cost that much!
ANYONE GREEN WITH ENVY
manual for sure if the person can drive it :P
i think the only time an auto would win is if it was shiftkitted..... no matter how quick you can change gears in a manual a shiftkitted auto can do it faster![]()
I found when the wagon was a manual I got too much wheel spin in first gear for it to be quick (std tyres back then 185/14's)
With it now being an auto it's just a wee bit easier to get it off the line without smoke n noise. (and 215/15 tyres help too)
Yeah thanks guys, He would be talking probably a straight line but he is a Ford freak and they seem to be like mac users... always get over excited about whatever it is that they have or being right when it comes to cars... people say Holden freaks are bad but some of these Ford fanatics are ridiculous lol.
