driving car home last night down main north road, got to the set of traffic lights just before the 90 then 100 zone after smithfield. stopped at lights cos they were red. went to take off and it was slowly she started making a clicking noise. i pulled over had a look under the car and under the bonnet but couldnt see much cos it was 4 in the morning.
so i stopped look all over then got back in put in drive moved forward slowly and heard click again. it sounds like a wheel cos it seems to click at the same time and when u go faster so does the click.
it sounded bad but i wanted the car home so started driving at like 40k's with hazards on down main north in 100 zone. then got bout half way home and sound good nasty. so i slowed down bit and could feel vibrations through car then went to pull off main north to side street and when i went to stop she just bout cut out then kicked back to normal.
havnt been out to see what she like now but im guessing the same. i got a VN, VP car book and just looked throught it and the only thing in the problem section that says bout vibrations is the driveline.
can this cause this problem? or does someone know or had this problem before?
all help is very appreciated as car is causing me so much hassles. its one thing after another!!
cheers
Patrick

Harmonic balancer could be stuffed - makes a clicky sound when the rubber splits. When it moves around the timming can be upset making the car run poorly too.
Yeah true shane and that noise is loud very loud compared to a rock in the tyre. If you want to check the balancer take the belt off if you can spin the outer hemisphere then is screwed

if its coming from your driveline it could be your cv joint (or center bearing) in your driveshaft. mine was stuffed so badly that the whole car shook when it was moving. how loud is the sound? is there any definite part of the car that it is coming from?
bearing maybe but that wouldn't be to bad.
Could also be a wheel weight come slightly loose rubbing against the strut tower, then finally fell of

I blew a half-shaft ones (the ball bearing inside ripped it to pieces) and I sounded like a speed junkie trying to destroy my car with a cheese grater.
Didn't start as a click though, one minute was fine, pulled up to lights, pulled away and it was alllll bad![]()
thats excatly wot happened mate pulled up at lights like normal then went to take off clunk clunk clunk clunk.
im pretty sure its the drive shaft cos the noise diffently comes from there and it vibrates the car too.. so something is diffently wrong getting it fixed 2morro hopefully so should be all good lol cheers will let everyone know how she goes
cheers

If that's what happened to yours it should be pretty cheap to fix.
I thought I'd blown the diff. Paid $220 to get it towed 20km to my local mech and initially he said "Yeah I think you have", but got a call the next day saying "good news! it's just the half shaft".
Towing ended up costing me more than the repairs!
yeah they hav uni joints. it could also be that.. but will see 2morro when get it up on hoist and have a real good look.
cheers

i had clicks coming from one side of my car, turned out the brake pads needed replacing.
uni joints dont really make a constant clunking noise unless your on and off the pedal constantly (from my experiences).
Check the tailshaft and transmission mount.
car running great now.. CV was stuffed so just replaced with a second hand tailshaft.
cheers for the help
