Default VN5L auto box has died

Hi all, new to this site. Just after a bit of info regarding the auto in the VN. It has lost all drive in 3rd gear, which I'm guessing has burnt the clutch pack? 3rd-4th gear out. Would this be correct? Any idea of what it should cost to reco this. I have been quoted from $1800 upwards is that right? That's bloody expensive!
Whats the difference between a VN5L auto and a VS5L box as I may be able to get one of those cheaply and put it in? Is it the same, will it fit?
    Apologies for so many questions!
    Thanks
    Craig

$1800 for a reco T700 is about right mate.....Sorry to tell you! VS box will fit in, but its fully electronic, where a VN auto is still hydraulic. So no good with that! If you want to go second hand, you will need a VN-VP auto....

Yep I paid 1600 for a full t700 reco at transstyle with warranty, so that price is about right. But shop around you might get a better quote elsewhere, or just go 2nd hand and put it in yourself

    Sorry no kickdown cables here.

By the way was the box for a V8 or V6?
